Dr. Alastair Firkin completed his radiology training at The Royal Melbourne Hospital in 1993. He also completed a fellowship at the Miami Vascular Institute in Florida, USA.
A year later, Dr Firkin became a partner in Radsonic (incorporating, Melton X-ray Centre and Independent Medical Imaging), which was to eventually become Lake Imaging. Dr Firkin has worked at the Ballarat Health Services and Ballarat MRI since 1994.
Dr Firkin is a member of several special interest groups including the Interventional Radiological Society of Australia, Australia & New Zealand Society of Neuroradiology, Australian Society Ultrasound Medicine and Radiological society of North America and American Roentgen Ray Society. He is also a senior lecturer at The University of Melbourne and a fully accredited Medical Resonance Imaging supervisor.
