What is a 3D/4D Scan?
3D ultrasound is a medical ultrasound technique which can be used during pregnancy to provide 3 dimensional (or real life) images of the baby. The 4D component means we can see the baby move in real-time while in the 3D mode.
When is a good time?
The 3D/4D images are not used routinely for the medical assessment of your baby, but we are able to arrange an appointment for you to view your baby with this technology.
The optimal time to perform these scans is after 26 weeks and before 30 weeks of pregnancy.
Is it Rebatable?
There is no Medicare rebate for 3D/4D ultrasounds as there is no clinical reason for performing them. When you ring to book an appointment the receptionist can tell you what the cost will be.
What do I need to bring?
We require a referral from your medical practitioner and we do prefer to view your previous normal morphology scan results.
What do I get?
Although every effort is made to provide ideal images, the quality relies significantly on the position of the baby. We record the study on a DVD and provide you with a CD of images that can be viewed as jpeg files and treated like a photo on your home computer
